Microsoft ACS announcement
So it seems that Microsoft has developed an embedded device OS distribution called ACS and that this OS is based on the Linux kernel. http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/tag/azure-cloud-switch/ That’s kind of neat. They’ve been consuming Linux for quite some time. It’s nice to see that they’re producing some, too. Thank you for being productive members of this community, […]

Trip Report: UW signing-party
Dear Debian Users, I met last night with a friend from many years ago and a number of students of cryptography. I was disappointed to see the prevalence of black hat, anti-government hackers at the event. I was hoping that civilized humanity had come to agree that using cryptography for deception, harm to others and […]

AD Physical to Virtual conversion… Continued!
So I wasn’t able to complete the earlier attempt to boot the VM. Something to do with the SATA backplane not having enough juice to keep both my 6-disk array and the w2k8 disk online at the same time. I had to dd the contents off of the w2k8 disk and send it to the […]

Windows is *still* loading files
I’m moving the active directory server off of hardware on to the hypervisor. I think if I boot the drive as USB I can install the virtio disk drivers on the system. Fingers crossed! Only thing is that this first boot off of a USB device takes *sooooo* long!

It seems that OpenVPN configuration files can now include data inline. So rather than generating and distributing the following for each user: a configuration file a chain of CA […]

IE error “expected identifier, string or number”
This probably means that you’ve got a trailing comma after an object/hash definition: var myObj = { key0: ‘val0’, key1: ‘val1’, key2: ‘val2′, // ↠}; // ↑ You’re on your own for trying to figure out which file it’s talking about and translating the line number into the correct value.

dlr-languages 20090805+git.e6b28d27+dfsg-1 in squeeze, -2 uploaded, nearly in lucid
Yay! The dlr-languages package has been migrated to testing, which means that it will be included in squeeze, the next release of Debian. Jo has uploaded the -2 version and it is now in sid. This version addresses the issues brought up in the Ubuntu Feature Freeze exception (FFe) bug, so I expect that it […]
